Simple Autumnal Trail Mix

Autumn has come and smacked me square between the eyes, and let me tell you I couldn’t be more thrilled about it.  The smells are changing, the sun rises a few minutes later so I get to sneak a few more minutes in bed, I no longer have to justify my obsession with scarves, tis a great thing this season.

I’ve been milling around for over a week trying to figure out what I wanted to use as my big debut! my proclamation to the world! until I finally realized I had put so much pressure on myself for my inaugural post that I had to step back and tell myself, “Do what you love…cook.”  So I did.  And then I realized I forgot to measure my trail mix.  This is a natural occurrence in my world – where things just kind of “come together” as defined by terribly abstract handfuls or little bits.  I do not tell a lie.

So this is my effort to track what I did.  I will warn you:  it may have taken me a really long time to write this because my hands were otherwise engaged in nom-ing.  (Did I really just use that, uh, word?)

Simple Autumnal Trail Mix

1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup almonds
2/3 cup raw pumpkin seeds
3/4 cup dried cranberries

Today’s colors: brown, red, green
Today’s soundtrack:  Tu Mediodia by DePedro

Now, if I could only figure out how to transplant a pumpkin patch into the city….
